Participate in a scavenger hunt and a free art activity at the MAH during the “Waves of Pride” celebration brought to you by Santa Cruz Pride.

We are all thrilled to bring you entertainment, education, and community. At the MAH, we invite you to stop by on June 4th and celebrate your identity, history, and legacy. Utilizing a small box take-out box and additional materials, what story will your box tell?

This art activity is inspired by the Herland Dream Box made by Kayla Garnet Rose, Ph.D. Read our interview with her and learn about the history of Gathering Places in Santa Cruz County.

Quote from Queer Santa Cruz: Stories of the LGBTQ+ Community in Santa Cruz County:

"Once upon a time in the not-so-distant past, we had a feminist utopia in our own backyard, known as Herland: The WanderGround. Fierce babes with piercings and tattoos conjured amazing vegan feasts named after Goddesses, such as the Ukimochi sandwich, Xena’s Nachos, and Hippy KooLady. Herland was filled with stories, songs, archetypes, and images that celebrate the Divine Feminine of all genders, colors, shapes, and sizes. Here was a place to dream of ancient women who did not apologize, to discover community, and feel empowered to create a difference.
