Embrace the traveler’s spirit without ever leaving home on a road trip that requires no passport and no ticket with Cabrillo College!

Guided by a local history expert you will explore the poignant, quirky, delicious, and culturally rich locations and traditions of Santa Cruz County. You will discover the mysteries, drama, and pure entertainment of historic locations like the Davenport Jail and Evergreen Cemetery, and explore the cultural culinary history that is woven into our past and present.

You’ll start with a behind the scenes tour of the historic archives at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, then hit the road between classes as you venture out to historic locations, and complete your food scavenger hunt. Filled with intriguing stories and fascinating facts, you will look at each place with a new set of eyes, and a new understanding of the people and places that shaped our local culture, industry, and community. You will be invited to share personal collections or historical memories as part of a historical memory show and tell! By the end of this class, you’ll know so much more about Santa Cruz and its colorful past, and feel like you’ve been on a great adventure—right here at home!
