Join exhibiting artist Enid Baxter Ryce as she talks through her process and inspiration for the paintings, films, and installations featured in Atmosphere, on view at the MAH from January 14 - May 15, 2022. Following the talk we will be screening her film War & the Weather, an experimental documentary with a musical score by Philip Glass that shares the history and context around the phenomena of atmospheric rivers.

Enid Baxter Ryce is an artist, writer, filmmaker, and musician. She grew up in a strip-mining town that was also a Revolutionary War reenactment park. Her works have been exhibited internationally at venues including the National Gallery of Art and Library of Congress, Washington, D.C; the J.P. Getty Museum and many others. Enid studied fine art at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Yale University and Claremont Graduate University. She has created large-scale community-based environmental arts projects for several museums. She is Professor of Cinematic Arts and Environmental Studies at California State University Monterey Bay.
