Qingming Work Day
Saturday, March 30, 2024,
10am - 12pm
Evergreen Cemetery: 261 Evergreen Street
At the MAH, we believe we can all learn a lot from the people that came before us. These stories can inspire and challenge us. They can allow us to reflect on our past and help guide us moving forward.
On March 30th, we invite you to join us at Evergreen Cemetery to celebrate the Qingming Festival, also called Tomb Sweeping Day or, literally, ‘Pure Brightness’ Festival in English. This is a traditional Chinese festival and an important day for most people (including the Han Chinese and some of China's 55 other ethnic minorities) to go and sweep tombs and commemorate their ancestors.
There is also a Santa Cruz AAPI Collective history walk beforehand that begins at the historic Chinatown gate at 10 and ends at Evergreen. If you’d like to attend the history walk, please RSVP here.
